Luke Pinkelman got his start working on the family farm, spending much of his time getting to know the mechanics of large farm equipment. He went on to work for a local tire shop in high school, and then to college for diesel trucking. After graduating, he got a job at a trucking company in Hartington, NE, and was put in charge of 20 trucks and 25 trailers. There, he learned about everything from brakes, tires, and kingpins to time management. Next, he worked for an independent shop in Humphrey, where he was handed all the big jobs, including engine overhauls, transmission rebuilds, wiring problems, head gaskets, and much more. He learned not only how to be a better technician, but also how to run and not run a shop.
At D&D Industries, Luke’s last job before opening his own shop, he took care of everything from semi–trucks and shag trucks to forklifts and pallet manufacturing equipment. When he was given the opportunity to start his own business, he accepted the challenge, and was finally able to devote himself to the shop full-time in 2011.
